David Evans, Managing Partner at Enoch Evans LLP is celebrating his 25th year with the Walsall based law firm. As part of his celebration he is embarking on a 160 mile cycle ride from London to Walsall along canal towpaths with Dr Matthew Dugas from Sycamore House Surgery, Birmingham Road, Walsall and also an old friend Martin Newhouse. In fact, David first attempted this ride 15 years ago but due to bike failure never succeeded; this second attempt is a personal mental challenge as well as a physical one for David, who recently turned 50.
The cycle ride starts on Saturday 18th September and should realistically take three days; despite this fact the team is attempting it in two. The team will travel along the Grand Union canal towpaths from London to Birmingham, some of which they have been informed are unsuitable for cycling, before turning onto the local canal network to the finish in Walsall. The ride is not only a celebratory event but also a charitable one as the team will be raising money for The Midlands Air Ambulance. The charity is responsible for funding and operating three Air Ambulances serving the Midlands and Welsh border region and is regarded as one of the longest established and busiest Air Ambulance operators in the UK.
It was David’s Great-Grandfather, Mr. Enoch Evans (and one time Mayor of Walsall) that founded the firm in 1884 and David represents the fourth generation of the Evans’ family to join the firm. Having completed his education at the Guildford College of Law, David joined Enoch Evans LLP in September 1985 fully qualified and began life in the firm as Assistant Solicitor. Previously in September 1983, David had been articled to Mr. Christopher James of Johnson & Co. Birmingham, also President of The Birmingham Law Society.
After being admitted to the role on 15th October 1985 it became apparent that commercial work was where his specialism was to lie. To this day David deals with company and commercial matters including Share and Asset sales and purchases, corporate finance and joint ventures, commercial property, and general employment. David joined the Partnership three years later and became Managing Partner in 2007.
As well as his work in the legal arena, David is responsible for ensuring that the firm is well equipped with the most up-to-date computer systems and system information to ensure the smoothest facilitation of the provision of client services. Most recently the firm switched to single system for all users that caters for financial, case, matter, document and marketing management. David is also responsible for overseeing the day to day management of Enoch Evans LLP.
On his upcoming celebrations David Evans commented “In the past 25 years I have witnessed a lot of changes and have seen the firm evolve into an innovative, progressive and even more professional legal firm. 2010 has been groundbreaking for the firm as we have had a complete overhaul of the way that we operate; this has enabled us to build on our already outstanding reputation by providing our clients with a premium legal service. I am extremely pleased to be sharing my celebration with The Midlands Air Ambulance as we have a long standing relationship with the charity. I am proud to be once again supporting such a worthy cause. “
