Enoch Evans LLP recently opened its offices to local businesses who were invited to attend one of the firm’s breakfast forums. The Enoch Evans LLP Breakfast Forum is a chance for local businesses and professional services firms to meet to discuss the legal issues and practical challenges that surround businesses today.
Industry experts met over breakfast at the firm’s Walsall offices on Thursday 22nd September to discuss the importance of having terms and conditions in place. Led by Andrew Pointon, Dispute Resolution Partner, and Sukie Shemar, Corporate Partner, the forum was a chance for those who run businesses to share ideas and experiences regarding this important topic, made even more essential in this challenging economic climate. Discussion topics included the benefits of having suitable terms and conditions in place with both customers and suppliers, how best to incorporate your own terms and conditions in contracts, exclusion of liability clauses and limitation of liability, retention of title and payment terms.
The forum received an excellent response from attendees who included representatives from Fraser Wood Chartered Surveyors, Vincent Timber Ltd and Mellish Engineering Services Ltd. Mike Jarrett, Senior Solicitor in the Dispute Resolution department at Enoch Evans LLP also attended.
Andrew Pointon commented that “Sadly, the current difficult economic times can strain even the best working relationships. Properly drafted, up to date terms and conditions mean that a business can try to limit the extent of its exposure if problems arise.”
